Slicers baseball drops twin bill

La Porte’s baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader at Logansport, 7-3 and 5-3 on Saturday. In Game 1, the Slicers fell behind 2-0 after the first inning. La Porte’s Logan Schroeder took the loss, allowing seven runs on nine hits in six innings. Brock Lipscomb and Josh Trim led the team with two hits apiece. In the second game, the Slicers tallied three runs in the first, including Connor Stalbaum’s RBI groundout. The Berries scored three runs in the fourth to go ahead for good, 5-3. Nick Moser took the loss, giving up five runs on four hits, striking out three in 3 1/3 innings. Grant Collins went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead La Porte. The Slicers are now 1-6 and host Valparaiso on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

LP girls win tennis invite

The La Porte girls tennis team won Saturday’s eight-team Logansport Invitational. The Slicers swept the singles flights with Alaina Majors, Rachel Kaminski and Allison Varda. The two doubles team of Molly Reed and Kaitlyn Friis finished second.

Run with the Wolves on April 20

A “Run With The Wolves 5K Fun Run” will be held April 20 at Washington Park starting from the tennis pavilion. Registration on the day of the race begins at 8 a.m, and the race will start at 9. To register, visit http://educateMC.net/mchs or the Michigan City High School Facebook page. The event is organized by the Michigan City High School Class of 2021.

City to play in RailCats Challenge

The Michigan City baseball team will be among 37 schools from Illinois and Indiana who will play in the 17th Annual High School Challenge presented by Northwest Indiana Orthopedic and Spine Center at Methodist Hospitals at the U.S. Steel Yard in Gary through April 27. The Wolves will face Metea Valley (Ill.) at 4:30 p.m. on April 19. Tickets can be purchased through the athletic department.
