Nutrition Tips for Senior Adults

Introduction: Methodist Hospitals recognizes maintaining a well-balanced diet is important when it comes to living longer and healthier lifestyles. Adding fruits and vegetables to meals on a routine basis can make a difference between staying energized or developing chronic health conditions. As we get older, eating adequately becomes a challenge, and developing a good eating plan that will assist in the overall health of aging adults will have positive benefits for the entire body.

What: Methodist Hospitals is pleased to collaborate with YWCA of NWI and the Food Bank of NWI for a “Healthier Living & Cooking Demonstration” on Thursday, August 29th, at 12:00 noon, at the YWCA, located on 150 W. 15th Avenue, in Gary.

Methodist Hospitals Christine Lambert, Stroke Coordinator and Amanda Ahlenius, Clinical Dietitian, will be available to present and discuss healthier living for seniors and offer nutritional tips that will create an eating pattern by making good choices of foods and drinks every day. After the presentation and cooking demonstration, seniors who have signed up will be given a “healthy food box” that includes fresh fruits and vegetables prepared by the Food Bank of NWI.
