MERRILLVILLE — Close to 100 women gathered for breakfast and a day of pampering that included mini facials, chair massages, manicures and healthy smoothies at Methodist Hospitals’ Northwest Indiana Breast Cancer Center.

Every woman who scheduled a mammogram received a free pink bracelet as a gift of health. Since Go Pink was the theme, pink mums were raffled off to celebrate the fall season. Door prizes included a $500 gift basket to State of Mind Salon and Day Spa in Crown Point, a Mary Kay gift box, a breast cancer awareness gift basket and a basket from Intrigue Salon & Day Spa in Dyer.

Dr. Bharat Barai, medical director of the Oncology Institute, and Stacy Knox, a breast care nurse navigator, answered any questions attendees had. The Breast Care Center received the 2016 Women’s Choice Award for the third consecutive year.

“Every two minutes a women in the U.S. is diagnosed with breast cancer, and she needs to know which breast centers she can trust to navigate this uncertain path,” said Delia Passi, CEO and founder of Women Certified, home of the Women’s Choice Award.
