HOBART — Edgewater Mental Health holds its Mental Health Awareness luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Avalon Manor, 3530 E. U.S. 30.

The luncheon features an opportunity to interact with some of Northwest Indiana’s organizations which work on a daily basis to meet the needs of the mental health community. Some of those groups include the Center for Workforce Innovations, Edgewater Systems, Geminus Prevention Services, Mental Health of American of Lake County, The Methodist Hospitals, Total Spectrum Care TradeWinds and Veterans Affairs.

The main speak is Dr. Louise Bias, who is described as an internationally known motivational speaker, trainer, certified youth and family life coach and consultant. Her career as a public speaker was launched as a result of the death of her two sons. Len Bias died from cocaine intoxication two days after being drafted by the Boston Celtics and Jay Bias was murdered in a drive-by shooting in a local mall.

The luncheon is hosted by the Ambassadors for Edgewater, a volunteer group of supporters dedicated to advancing the mission of Edgewater Systems, a community mental health center serving the needs of residents in Lake and Porter counties.

Reservations for the luncheon are $35 per person and $250 for a table of eight. Those interested in attending should call Janelle St. John at 219-885-4264, ext. 2604 or email jstjohn@edgewatersystems.org. Tickets are also available  at http://edgewaterwystems.org/events/.
