The Methodist Hospitals Paramedic Education Program is a 16-month course that teaches advanced patient assessment techniques and lifesaving invasive procedures in accordance with the National Registry. Techniques and procedures include intubation, I.V./I.O. starts, advanced airway techniques and the latest in pediatric care.

Employment Outlook

Employment of paramedics and EMTs is projected to increase 23 percent over the next 10 years. The population growth among the middle-aged and elderly and the expanded presence of specialized medical facilities are expected to fuel that increased demand for EMT and paramedic services.

About the Course

The Region’s first accredited program, Methodist Hospitals Paramedic Education Program has successfully trained more than 1,000 paramedic – many of whom are working in Northwest Indiana.

Approximately half of the course is devoted to classroom lecture, skills stations and labs, while the other half is devoted to clinical training on ambulances and in hospital departments. It offers the area’s richest and most diverse clinical experience by offering exposure to Northwest Indiana’s only Level III Trauma Center and The Region’s only ambulance simulator.

The Methodist Hospitals Paramedic Education Program adjunct faculty includes surgeons with extensive trauma and emergency medicine experience, and advanced practice nurses with considerable backgrounds in trauma, cardiovascular medicine and neuroscience.

Over the last five years, EVERY STUDENT who completed the Methodist Hospitals Paramedic Education Program course passed the National Registry Exam.
