THE CENTER for
ADVANCED SLEEP MEDICINE
(219)
736-4074 The Rehab Centers
Since 1987, the Center for Sleep Disorders has provided the services of a clinical psychologist and physician with special training in sleep disorders medicine. Following consultation, patients may spend one or more nights in one of three comfortable bedrooms for further diagnostic evaluation or treatment. For some types of conditions, treatment may begin immediately following the initial evaluation.
Impotency studies are performed in collaboration with physician specialists in urology.
Sleep studies are conducted with patients with the following conditions:
Excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) |
Primary snoring |
Sleep apnea syndrome |
Narcolepsy |
Periodic leg movements in sleep |
Biological rhythm disorders |
Primary insomnia |
Nightmares, sleepwalking, bedwetting |
Impotence |
Chronic Fatigue |
Depression and other psychiatric conditions |
Insomnia & EDS associated with other medical conditions (neuromuscular disease, chronic pain, cardiac & pulmonary diseases) |
With proper diagnosis, most of these conditions can be appropriately treated. Current therapies include CPAP, medications, short-term psychotherapy, surgical procedures, sleep hygiene and sleep-position training. Biofeedback is also used with some patients.
