Methodist Hospitals Plaque Dedication Honors Denis E. Ribordy - June 27, 2013
On Monday, June 3, 2013, Methodist Hospitals held a ceremony to honor past Board President Denis E. Ribordy with the dedication of a plaque in memory of his many contributions to the hospitals.
The ceremony, attended by the Methodist Hospitals Board of Directors, leadership team and family members of Mr. Ribordy, was held in the Methodist Hospitals Southlake Campus’s new Emergency Department. The ceremony included remembrances by close friend and colleague Mr. Glenn Hannah, who is a member of the Methodist Hospitals Board of Directors, as well as remarks by Ian McFadden, Methodist Hospitals President & CEO, William G. Braman, Methodist Hospitals Board Chair, and Scott Ribordy, son of Denis E. Ribordy also a current Methodist Hospitals board member.
The plaque honoring Mr. Ribordy, which will hang in the new Southlake Emergency Department, was unveiled by President & CEO Ian McFadden, who also presented the family with a replica of the plaque as a keepsake. “We can never give enough thanks to our board members, who year after year give so much of themselves for the benefit of Methodist Hospitals, its employees, patients and their families. Denis E. Ribordy was a well-known community leader who in addition to his many other contributions to Northwest Indiana, gave more than two decades of service to Methodist Hospitals, as a board member and as Board Chair. We dedicate this plaque in gratitude for his many years of leadership and service.” Mr. McFadden said.
Members of the Ribordy family who attended the ceremony included Mr. Ribordy’s wife Carolyn, sons Scott and Mark Ribordy, daughters Nancy Ribordy and Cheryl Blakey, daughter-in-law Nadine Ribordy and niece Meghan Blakey.
Denis E. Ribordy, a native of Northwest Indiana, played leadership roles in a great many civic organizations in addition to serving as a member of the Board Director and Past Chairman of the Board at Methodist Hospitals. He was a former chairman of the American Red Cross, Gary Chapter, the Northwest Indiana Forum, and the Affiliated Drug Stores, New York City. He was a former president of the Gary Junior Chamber of Commerce, Northwest Indiana Association of Commerce and Industry, the Lake County Pharmaceutical Association, and the Better Business Bureau of Northwest Indiana. He was also a director of the Northern Indiana Public Service Company, Butler University Board of Trustees, Hunter Corporation, Gainer Bank, Mercantile National Bank, Northwest Indiana Forum, Indiana State Board of Pharmacy, City Methodist Church and Trade Winds Rehabilitation Center, among other affiliations. Together with his wife Carolyn, he established the Denis Ribordy Endowed Scholarship for pharmacy students at Butler University interested in community pharmacy.
