Methodist has two full service campuses just 14 miles apart. Northlake is our urban campus in Gary while Southlake Campus in Merrillville is located near one of the Midwest’s busiest retail areas. Combined campus bed capacity is 625 plus nurseries. Midlake Campus is conveniently located between Northlake and Southlake just off Interstate 94. The Rehab Centers at Midlake opened in 2003. Plans are currently in place to expand Midlake Campus by adding an ambulatory surgery center and medical office building. Our medical staff of more than 400 physicians represents nearly 60 medical specialties. Methodist is a major local employer with over 3,000 employees. Our volunteer guild is more than 400 strong.

A Full Range of Service

From the beginning, Methodist has lead the way in providing the most advanced, state-of the-art services to the residents of Northwest Indiana. Due to the expertise of our medical staff, patients have access to a wide array of clinical trials.  Our dedication to offering a continuum of care means that, regardless of an initial diagnosis or reason for seeking treatment, Methodist provides all patients with an integrated and seamless service delivery system enhanced with a dedicated Spiritual Care program.

Cardiovascular Services

A full range of cardiology, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery is available at both campuses. Our Electrophysiology Lab is equipped with the latest technology, AXIOM Artis dFC Magnetic Navigation. Currently, we have five cath labs with more planned through joint ventures with our physicians. Methodist Hospitals is Northwest Indiana’s Exclusive Title Hospital Sponsor of the American Heart Association.

Oncology Services

Since 1971, Methodist’s Oncology Services have been accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Our participation in the Cancer and Leukemia Group B program through the University of Chicago offers our patients access to cutting edge clinical trials. Methodist’s Radiation Oncology Center offers state-of-the-art technology including the Leksell Gamma Knife ®, Stereotactic Body Radiosurgery, Brachytherapies, IMRT and other cancer treatment modalities.

Neuroscience Services

Methodist leads the region in Neuro-Oncology services with the Gamma Knife Center. Neurosurgery is performed and Neuro ICU’s are located at both campuses. A pain management program is available at each campus.

Women’s Services

High risk pregnancy care including maternal-fetal monitoring and neonatology services are available at both campuses.  Methodist has a Level 2.5 and a Level 3 NICU and is an A1Fetal Monitoring Training Center. Genetic counseling is available through the Indiana University School of Medicine in Gary. Labor and delivery units are available at each campus with comfortable birthing suites. 

Orthopedic Services

Methodist has a Total Hip and Knee Joint Replacement Program and a full-range of outpatient therapies. The newest advancements in spine surgeries are also performed at Methodist.

Emergency Department

There are over 66,000 emergency department (combined campus) visits annually. Methodist is a leader in Emergency Medical Services including trauma alert programs for heart and stroke. Methodist Hospitals has been designated by the State of Indiana as the Regional Coordination Center which trains EMT’s and Paramedics in a seven county area in Indiana since 1975.

Rehabilitation Services

Since 1973, Methodist Hospitals Inpatient Rehabilitation Services have been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).  Inpatient care units, progressive care units and home health and hospice are available. The Rehab Centers at Southlake Campus and Midlake Campus offer a full-range of comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation services.

Behavioral Health Services

Adult, adolescent and child care units are available at our Northlake Campus. Intensive outpatient care at the Northlake and Southlake campuses treats addictions and offers individual counseling programs.

Specialty Programs

The Diabetes Center

Diabetes self-management education classes and case management services are overseen by Certified Diabetes Educators, Registered Dieticians, Clinical Pharmacists, Behavioral Psychologists and Spiritual Care Providers.

The Center for Weight Loss Surgery

Methodist Hospitals offers open and laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and LAP-BAND weight loss surgery procedures. Our comprehensive program consists of pre- and post-surgical education which includes dietary, exercise and psychological counseling.

Occupational Medicine Services

Designed to keep employees healthy, productive and on the job, Methodist has one-stop, multidisciplinary occupational health centers at both campuses.
