New systems from OEC Medical Systems, Inc., a GE Healthcare business, offer the surgeon and staff precise surgical images that can be seen from almost anywhere in the OR. Better visualization during surgery increases the chance for a successful outcome. GE Healthcare is committed to providing quality products that help deliver better care to more people at lower cost.
Gary, Indiana- September 24, 2012 – Surgeons and the OR staff at Methodist Hospitals now have the opportunity to visualize urology procedures better using the latest generation OEC mobile imaging C-arm technology coupled with a unique digital visualization system.
GE Healthcare’s OEC 9900 Elite’s state-of-the-art imaging capabilities allow for superb images during surgery with improved radiation dose control, dependability, and versatility. The Low Dose setting reduces dose by more than 50% from the standard setting, while in continuous fluoroscopy mode. For more than three decades, GE Healthcare OEC has been a leader in mobile C-arm surgical imaging and the 9900 Elite is the company’s most powerful and most reliable C-arm to date.
Methodist Hospitals went one step further in improving its surgical capabilities by adding the NuBOOM digital image communication system to the OR. This innovative product allows the OR staff to display images on four moveable digital monitors during surgery. A tower holding two articulating arms helps free up space in a busy OR, all while ensuring the right images are ergonomically positioned in front of each member of Methodist Hospitals’ OR team. Less clutter, improved staff comfort, and improved line of sight to multiple images can add to the success of surgery.
“One cannot overestimate the importance of precise, real-time imaging during surgery,” said Ayo, Gomih, M.D. “Thanks to innovation and advanced technologies like we have with these products, we’ll be able to perform more successful surgeries and advance, in particular, minimally invasive procedures. It’s all about smaller incisions and faster recovery time for our patients.”
Says Ian McFadden, President & CEO of Methodist Hospitals, “ We are excited to be one of the first facilities in the country to combine the power of the NuBOOM with an OEC C-arm. We are dedicated to helping the surgical staff at Methodist Hospitals perform to the very best of their abilities, because ultimately it’s all about providing the best patient care possible.”
