METHODIST RCC MANAGER FIRST RECIPIENT
OF
NIEMEYER-QUINN AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
Kevin Doolin, manager, Methodist Hospitals Regional Coordination
Center (RCC), is the first recipient of the Niemeyer-Quinn Award
of Excellence. The RCC was established in 1975, designated by the
state of Indiana to provide emergency medical services and paramedic
training for seven Northwest Indiana counties. Doolin has been manager
for the RCC for 20 years.
Mr. Doolin was presented with the award during a special ceremony
on November 14 at Teibel's Restaurant, Schererville, from the Local
Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).
The Niemeyer-Quinn Award is named in honor of former county commissioner,
Ernest Niemeyer who established LEPC in 1987 and former LEPC member
and attorney, Bowden Quinn who established the first Community Safety
Awards in 1999.
Doolin expressed appreciation to those that nominated him for the
award and acknowledged the cooperation of area hospitals and health
care providers who are working with him on the Bioterrorism Sub-committee
for LEPC.
"Cooperation from local hospitals and our mass casualty and
bioterrorism preparedness has made Northwest Indiana a leader in
bioterrorism preparedness which has been acknowledged by our federal
government," said Doolin.
Kevin has served as co-chair of LEPC's Bioterrorism Sub-committee
since 2001.
