Methodist Hospitals Volunteers Donate $105,000 to the Hospital
Auxiliary Honors Volunteers, Presents $105,000 Check to Methodist Hospitals
Volunteers recently gathered at the Avalon Manor for their Annual Awards Luncheon. One hundred thirty five members were there to celebrate their accomplishments from the past year. They recognized tenured Volunteers and honored the memory of deceased Volunteers. Others were honored for their years of service or hours rendered.
Annually the Auxiliary donates scholarships to support nursing education. This year three $1,000 nursing scholarships were awarded. Also one Volunteen was awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Linda Rooda, Dean of Nursing and Health Professions expressed thanks to Volunteers for their continued annual support.
The highlight of the luncheon was the $105,000 presentation to Attorney Charles Brooks, Chairman of the Board and Claude Watts, CEO by Fredricka Davidson, Auxiliary President and Verda Daniels, Director Volunteer Services/Gift Shops. Fundraising events in 2006 included Wee Care Closet, Leather, Jewelry, Handbag and Accessory, Book Fairs, and a Fashion Show.
