A Day in the Life of a Nurse

Editors Note: We are inviting the media to come to our Northlake and Southlake campuses and shadow a nurse along with the students. The program takes place on Wednesday, November 8, from 8 am to 3 pm. Please do not hesitate to contact us. I have copied the news release below.

Methodist Hospitals is proud to partner with the Nursing 2000 program, to offer area high school students the experience of, "A Day in the Life of a Nurse." This is the third year Methodist Hospitals has been involved in this program. Dana Gore, Community Outreach Coordinator at Methodist Hospitals stated, "The nurses are almost as excited as the students about this program. Many of our nurses are concerned with the impending nurse shortage and are excited to be involved with any program that promotes their field." The students also anxiously look forward to this day. They spend an entire day shadowing a nurse on one of several departments within the hospital. The behind the scene look gives them a feel for what it really means to be a nurse and decide if this is a career they would like to pursue. The program also exposes the students to other healthcare professions within the hospital.

The program is held at both Methodist Northlake and Southlake campuses on Wednesday, November 8. The students arrive at 8:00 am and remain at the hospital until 3:00 pm. There are over 25 students participating in the program this year at Methodist Hospitals.
