Methodist offers free stroke screenings and presentation
Methodist Hospitals is offering a free Stroke Awareness Community Seminar on Thursday, May 11, 2006, in honor of May as National Stroke Awareness Month. The event runs from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Methodist Hospitals Center for Advanced Clinical Studies, 200 E. 89th Ave., Merrillville.

Those identified as “high risk” will receive discount coupons for more advanced stroke risk screenings including ultrasounds for carotid artery, abdominal aorta and peripheral artery disease.
Eugene Tanquilut, D.O., Vascular/Endovascular Surgeon will discuss new technology for stroke screenings and the available treatment options for those identified as “high risk.” Mridula Prasad, M.D., Neurology will discuss the risk factors and warning signs of stroke.
