Emergency Room Nurse to Speak to 5th and 6th Graders
Glenda Brooks an RN at Methodist Hospitals Emergency Room at Northlake will make a 20 minute presentation to 5th and 6th grade students about her first hand experience with the devastation that drugs can cause.
Franklin School in Gary, Indiana is holding an anti-drug assembly for its 250 5th and 6th graders on Monday, October 23 at 9 a.m. School officials are hoping that hearing an ER nurse speak about what she has seen come through the doors of the ER will make the students think twice before decided to try drugs.
Many of the students come from high-risk neighborhoods and this is only one of the ways Franklin School is trying to educate their students on the dangers of drugs.
