Methodist Hospitals is offering Northwest Indiana’s first Heart Health Expo on Saturday, February 4, 2006, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Avalon Manor, 3550 US Hwy 30, Merrillville.

The day-long event will feature a dozen doctors specializing in the care and treatment of cardiovascular conditions. Their presentations include information on heart disease, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, stroke prevention, congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease and metabolic syndrome.

In addition to the physician presentations, there will be interactive breakout sessions on first aid and the use of automated external defibrillators, the new Medicare prescription drug plan and a healthy cooking demonstration.

Screenings offered throughout the day include blood pressure, body mass index, body composition, oximetry, lipid profile, blood glucose, EKG and carotid bruit.

Expo attendees will receive a coupon for a $175 heart scan available during the month of February. Regular price for the heart scan is $255.

Register by February 1 by calling 1.888.909.DOCS (3627). There is a $20 registration fee which can be paid by credit card at the time of registration. With advanced registration, cash or checks will also be accepted at the door.
