Methodist Hospitals names Denise Dillard Vice President of Human Resources

Former CEO of Workforce Development Services, Denise C. Dillard, has been named Methodist Hospitals new Vice President of Human Resources. In addition to the Human Resources Department, Denise will also have direct responsibility for Corporate Training and Development, Employee Health, Volunteers Services and the Auxiliary. She will also oversee community outreach, grants and relationships with local schools including the colleges and universities. Denise assumed her new role at Methodist on December 5 th.

Dillard has also served as Executive Director for Workforce Development Services, which was a division of Ivy Tech State College. She spent five years as director of WorkOne, an employment and training service serving Northwest Indiana. She has held positions as staff trainer and Director of Youth Programs for Lakeshore Employment and Training Partnership and as Director of Community Affairs/Housing with the Urban League of Northwest Indiana. Her experience also includes 10 years as a contracted staff development trainer at Methodist, from 1991-2001.

A lifelong Gary resident, Dillard graduated from Horace Mann High School then attained a bachelor’s degree in Economics/Political Science/Legislative Policy from Howard University in Washington, D.C. She then went on to complete a Masters of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University at both the Bloomington and Northwest Campuses. She pursued other educational interests at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas, and Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts.

James Berg, Methodist Hospitals CEO said, “With her strong ties in the Region, Denise will focus on leadership and networking, a strength that will be invaluable to enhancing and developing relationships in and beyond the Lake County market and surrounding communities.”

“An innovative motivator, Dillard places a high value on staff development and customer service delivery. We expect her dynamic personality will positively impact all employees,” Berg added.

Denise and her husband, Major Dillard, have two children. Her son Lorenzo is a graduating senior at Bishop Noll Institute and her daughter Erin is a nurse in Fort Worth, Texas.

Methodist Hospitals has three campuses, including two full service hospitals and one outpatient rehabilitation campus. Methodist has a combined capacity of more than 700 beds. With over 3,000 employees, Methodist is one of Northwest Indiana’s largest employers.
