GARY | When Methodist Hospital was approached by AARP Smart Driver instructor Jeanette Pike to be a host site for their Smart Driver Course, the answer was obvious since the majority of trauma cases seen at Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus Trauma Center are motor vehicle accident victims.

The program offers defensive driving techniques, proven safety strategies and information on new traffic laws and rules of the road.

There are no tests to pass. Simply sign up and learn. Participants may receive auto insurance discounts, depending on your auto insurance company.

AARP will offering two Smart Driver Programs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Methodist campuses:

Thursday – Northlake Campus in Gary, 600 Grant St., Seyl Auditorium in the Administration Bldg.
Oct. 20 – Southlake Campus in Merrillville, 8701 Broadway, Classroom 2 Lower level of main hospital building.

To register, call Pike at (219) 949-6307.
