The Methodist Hospitals recently concluded its first food drive, collecting nearly 1,000 pounds of food for the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana.

The food drive was kicked off by employees during Hospital Week earlier this year.

Employees from all Methodist Hospital campuses and off-sites donated nonperishable food items as a way to give back to their community and to help combat hunger within the Northwest Indiana region, especially during our current economic challenges.

"I commend our employees for coming together during Hospital Week to give back to our community. This is truly a reflection of the 'New Spirit' of Methodist," said Ian McFadden, CEO of Methodist Hospitals.

Angelina Williams, executive director of the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, stated, "During these tough economic times, the support from wonderful organizations such as Methodist Hospital truly makes a difference. The food collected from the annual food drive will help stock the shelves of local pantries."

Individuals interested in donating are encouraged to contact the Food Bank at (219) 980-1777
