Methodist Hospitals provides comprehensive behavioral health care for school-aged children, adolescents and adults -- including patients over 65 -- who are faced with the challenges of psychiatric, behavioral health, or chemical dependency problems.

Methodist Hospitals is dedicated to providing safe, confidential and compassionate treatment. Our professionals offer customized treatment plans to meet each patient's particular needs -- in the least restrictive therapeutic environment.

A professional treatment team, which may include psychiatrists, psychologists, addictionologists, counselors, social workers, psychiatric technicians, therapists, and nurses provide patient care.

You, or a family member, may self-refer or be referred by a family physician, psychologist, social worker, friend, family member, employer, or community member.

Traditional Outpatient Therapy
We provide traditional outpatient therapy through one-on-one counseling with a psychologist or a masters prepared social worker.

Ambulatory Detox
Methodist Hospitals provides an ambulatory addictions program which encompasses a 7-day a week outpatient program for adults. This program sets the stage for other forms of outpatient addiction treatment.

Partial Hospitalization
Methodist Hospitals provides a 5-day a week, 6-hour a day, addiction treatment program staffed by social workers under the direction of an addictionologist.

Intensive Outpatient Addictions Program

  • 5 Day-a-week program offered at our Northlake Campus

Crisis Intervention Team
The City of Gary is the first city in Northwest Indiana to develop a Crisis Intervention Team (C.I.T.). The C.I.T. model of police-based, community-based intervention is a model rooted in partnerships between the Gary Police Department, Methodist Hospitals, Edgewater Systems for Balanced Living, and the mental health advocacy group – NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill).

Identified members of the City of Gary Police Department and Fire Department received C.I.T. training that will provide them with needed skills on how to deal with the mentally ill.

Both healthcare facilities involved will provide professional care for individuals who are in need of services when officers are called to intervene and will provide instruction to new C.I.T. officers and firefighters.
