Setting the standard for critical care in Northwest Indiana, the Emergency Department at Methodist has been designated by the Governor as a a Regional Coordination Center for Emergency Services since 1975. Cardiac, stroke and trauma alert programs coordinate the efforts of emergency services personnel and hospital clinical staff. Our greater array of stroke interventions, including biplane cath technology, makes us the destination or choice for stroke treatment in Northwest Indiana.
Patients receive specialized care from 20 physicians who are board-certified in emergency medicine, nurse trauma teams, and others with special training in emergency and critical care. Our implementation of Epic EMR facilitates rapid treatment, streamlines admitting, and gives physicians immediate access to important patient data. A Fast-Track urgent care program streamlines care to those patients who need it the most.
The comprehensive emergency facilities at Methodist include triage, multiple examination areas, trauma areas, private OB/GYN exam rooms, behavioral observation rooms, consultation rooms, and comfortably furnished waiting areas.
Methodist is the only hospital in Northwest Indiana with a residency program in Emergency Medicine Medical Residents from Northwestern Memorial. Residents gain experience in critical care while training at our Northlake Campus.
