by U.S. News and World Report’s 2008 publication of America’s
Best Hospitals, only 170 met the high standards in one or more
specialties. Methodist Hospitals was the only hospital
recognized in Northwest Indiana and ranks as among the best in
the nation for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
- In the area of women’s health,
HealthGrades®, the nation’s leading independent healthcare
ratings organization, awarded Methodist Hospitals the 2009/2010
Women’s Health Excellence Award. Hospitals receiving this award
rank among the top five percent of all hospitals nationwide in
terms of providing care to women in the areas of women’s
medicine, women’s cardiovascular procedures, and women’s bone
and joint health.
- For six consecutive years, HealthGrades®
has recognized Methodist Hospitals’ clinical excellence for
treating stroke patients, and awarded us the 2010 Stroke Care
Excellence Award, placing the hospital in the top ten percent
nationwide. We were also awarded The American Heart Association
and American Stroke Association 2010 Silver Performance Award.
- Methodist Hospitals has received a rating
of Five Stars, the highest rating a hospital can get from
HealthGrades®, for the treatment of congestive heart failure,
the treatment of respiratory failure and for gastrointestinal
surgeries and procedures in 2010.
- Methodist Hospitals is also recognized as
a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society
for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Methodist Hospitals ReStart
Center has a demonstrated track record of success.
- Methodist Hospitals has been accredited by
the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer since 1974
and is given the even higher distinction of “Accreditation with
Commendation,” by collecting nine out of a possible nine
commendations for the program’s commitment to excellence. We are
also a Five Star Investor and Five Star Community Investor in
the fight against cancer through the American Cancer Society's
Workplace Solutions program.
