Jonathon Moore had a desire to be on stage his entire life. Acting and music have always been a passion. Unfortunately his weight has always been an obstacle he had to overcome. Jonathon’s parents were obese and passed on this trait to their son. “I have been large my entire life. My parents were large. It was just how it was,” stated Jonathon.
Jonathon’s weight was getting in the way of more than his stage career. “My sleep apnea was so bad; I couldn’t work and had to file for disability. I hardly left the house because it was tough for me to stand up for more than 10 minutes at a time. I stayed home and continued to gain weight.” His mother saw an ad for a weight loss seminar and encouraged him to go. “The whole time Dr. Stanish was presenting, he kept looking at me. Once he was done with his presentation, he walked over to me and said that unless I did something soon, I was going to die,” stated Jonathon. Jonathon made an appointment with Dr. Stanish and on his first office visit was horrified to find out he weighed 615 lbs!
Jonathon had gastric bypass in July of 2008 and is now a healthy 225 lbs. “I feel like I can do anything now. I feel resurrected, like a butterfly. I am the same person I have always been, its just now, I am able to get out and show the world who I really am!”
Jonathon has lost close to 400 lbs and changed his life. He is one of six patients featured in Our Sixth Annual Patient Showcase and Celebration, scheduled for Saturday, April, 10th from 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm at the Avalon Manor. This event highlights the success of several of our Weight Loss Surgery patients.
