Welcome to The Methodist Hospitals!
We are continuously working towards our goal of
becoming the most respected, the most comprehensive and the most
reputable health system in the area by providing the best
sub-specialty care available for Heart, Cancer, Bariatrics,
Stroke/Rehab, Emergency and Women’s Services. Methodist Hospitals
has a longstanding history for providing quality healthcare to all
those in need regardless of their ability to pay. Your care and
comfort are very important to us and I assure you that the
physicians, nurses and employees at Methodist Hospitals are
dedicated to making your visit exceptional. We continue to be
committed to our mission to provide quality healthcare to all those
in need.
Methodist Hospitals has taken the lead role
in the formation of a task force involving Methodist Hospitals,
Indiana University Northwest, state legislators, and city leadership
to begin the due diligence in exploring the concept of building a
new teaching hospital in Gary, Indiana. This coalition will be a
collaborative effort of partners combining their efforts to study
the feasibility of a teaching hospital in Northwest Indiana. This
facility will improve the quality of healthcare in Northwest Indiana
and serve as an economic development engine for the region.
Over the last year we have invested $36 million
in patient care technology. This includes 64 slice CT scanners at
both campuses and Northwest Indiana’s only biplane imaging
system. We are also proud to announce that we have received
several awards from HealthGrades, the nation’s leading independent
healthcare ratings organization including, The Women’s Health
Excellence Award, ranking Methodist Hospitals in the top five
percent of healthcare providers and the Stroke Care Excellence
Award for the fifth consecutive year. This award recognizes
Methodist Hospital’s clinical excellence for treating stroke
patients, placing the facility in the top ten percent nationwide for
stroke services five years in a row. Methodist Hospital is also
being recognized for five star ratings for Treatment of Pneumonia,
Treatment of Bowel Obstruction and GI surgeries and procedures.
Our stroke program also received the 2009
Bronze Initial Performance Award by the American Heart Association
and American Stroke Association. These recent awards follow a
number of already nationally recognized services over the past few
years including: Accreditation with Commendation for our Cancer
services, Center of Excellence designation for our Bariatric Weight
Loss Surgery services, and last but not least, our US News and World
Report ranking in America’s Top 50 hospitals for our neurology and
neurosurgery services. These awards and national recognition are
a testament to the excellent work and dedication of our physicians
and staff.
I am proud of all that we have accomplished! I
want to thank you for your support and commitment to Methodist
Hospitals. We continue to work towards our vision of being the
best place for employees to work, the best place for patients to
receive care, and the best place for physicians to practice
medicine. We are proud to present to you the New Spirit of
Methodist.
