The primary mission of the Pharmacy Department is to collaboratively work with the Medical Staff, Nursing Staff, and Hospital Administration to optimize patient outcome. This goal is attained by applying the principles of Continuous Quality Improvement to all relevant processes involving pharmaceutical therapy.

Drug Utilization Evaluation Responsibility
Evaluate drug utilization for the purposes of improving patient outcomes. Applying nationally accepted, medical staff approved guidelines, derived from the medical literature, initiate a process which focuses on the prescription, dispensing and administration of medications. Monitor the effects of medication with the ultimate purpose of providing the greatest health care value to the patients seeking care at our facilities.

Formulary Process
Select and make available to the Medical Staff, diagnostic and therapeutic agents which are of the highest quality. Identify from each therapeutic class, agents that demonstrate superior efficacy, safety, and value.

Pharmaceutical Care
Involve Pharmacy Professionals in the direct management of patient therapy in cooperation with multi-disciplinary professional teams with the focus of maximizing the therapeutic regimen and outcome of the patient.
