Heart-felt hospital campaign

Methodist Hospital employees showed they had plenty of heart in 2007, turning last year into the hospital's most successful Heart Walk Campaign to date, raising nearly $70,000.
"It was truly a team effort to once again achieve the distinction of being Northwest Indiana's No. 1 fundraising hospital," CEO/President Claude Watts Jr. said in a news release. "Our employes came together an came up with a very creative way of raising funds."
The top three fundraising captains and walkers were announced at a captain celebration. Faisal Ayoub of the purchasing department was honored as the top captain and top walker, raising more than $5,000.
Faye Lyons of the central business office was the second-place captain and walker with $4,228, and Toni Barnett of legal services raised $3,510 to take honors as third-place captain. The third-place walker was Evelyn Morrison of marketing, who raised $2,368.
Other Heart Walk captains included Darlene Goss, Eileen Ryan, Bill Matthew, Al Mansfield, Donna Kettle, Kisha Barns/Debra Boles and Regina Shannon, April Brown, Ed Charbonneau, Yvette Figueroa, Connie Restyanszki, Vanessa Miller, Ruth Argenta, Vilma Sims, Diane Kemp, Deb Goetz, Laura Hadt, Myrtis Humphrey, Connie Hilley, Shirley Kosich and Terri McCormick, Angie Langbehn, Rachel Navarro and Norma Reitz, Amber Oliverio, Kathy Rais and Lyndsay Simpson, Sonia Ruiz, Tammy Steele, Verda Daniels, Dorie Slusser, Darlene Smith, Deb Sobat, Veetta Thomas, Deborah Van Woerden, Pat Hewitt and Latanya Woodson.
