Healthcare Workers Head to Haiti
Media Advisory:
Methodist Hospitals Paramedic Program Medical Director and Mobile
Intensive Care System Associate Medical Director, Nicholas Johnson,
MD, is heading to Haiti with a team of volunteers to try and
aleviate some of the suffering after the devastating earthquake. The
Red Cross estimates nearly a third of the population of Haiti is in
need of medical attention.
The team brought together by Hospitals for Humanity leaves for
the one week trip on Tuesday, January 19. Hospitals for Humanity is
a nonprofit organization designed to decrease barriers to healthcare
for people living in the least developed countries in the world.
Johanne Theodule, a physician assistant in the emergency
department at Methodist Hospitals is also a member of the team.
Johanne a haitian american, beleives she will also be able to serve
as a translator in addition to her medical expertise.
Dr. Johnson and Johanne will return from Haiti on Tuesday,
