Students in the art class of Janet Anderson at Merrillville High School participated in the Spring Spa Day for cancer survivors hosted by the Oncology Institute at Methodist Hospitals.

Methodist Hospitals’ Breast Cancer Program has been granted a three-year, full accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program directed by the American College of Surgeons. Accreditation by the NAPBC is only given to those centers that have voluntarily committed to provide the highest level of quality breast care and that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance.

Methodist Hospitals recently received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®–Stroke Gold Performance Achievement Award. The award recognizes Methodist Hospital’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of stroke care by ensuring that stroke patients receive treatment for at least 24 months according to nationally accepted standards and recommendations.

On April 20, Methodist Hospitals will be holding a seminar: Prevention and Management of Chronic Disease, presented by Dr. Winifred Oniah. Dr.Oniah will be discussing general chronic disease.

On April 30, Methodist Hospitals will present Spring Spa Day, an event that provides breast cancer patients and survivors an opportunity to be educated and pampered.

The recognition is based on the Thirteenth Annual HealthGrades Hospital Quality in America study, released today, which analyzes patient outcomes at virtually all of the nation’s hospitals. A 5-star quality rating indicates that Methodist Hospital Northlake’s clinical performance is better than expected.

Chef Albert Abrams of Methodist Hospitals went to a three day seminar about produce safety in Monteray, CA from June 22 to 25, 2010 because he filled out a questionnaire about produce from a Gordon Food Service sales representative and his name was picked out of a drawing.
